Transforming gemstones into fruit-flavored candies?
This treasure trove of a brand that not only looks sweet but can instantly make you stand out in a crowd is none other than the Italian national treasure artisan jewelry brand from Milan – Pomellato.
Europe’s Fifth Largest Jeweler
Pomellato
In the 1960s and 70s, with the awakening of female consciousness and independence, Western women launched a series of liberation movements. They were goal-oriented, persistent, and possessed strong independence, competitiveness, and flexibility.
Mr. Pino Rabolini, who came from a century-old family of goldsmiths, greatly admired these bold, dream-chasing modern women. He foresaw the special significance of “jewelry” in the realm of women’s intellectual liberation and, with his keen fashion intuition, initiated a revolution in the field of jewelry accessories.
In 1967, Pino Rabolini founded a highly distinctive jewelry brand in Milan, Italy: Pomellato.
The name Pomellato comes from a rare and valuable breed of horse that had been extinct for many years. It symbolizes nobility, strength, and independence, which aligns perfectly with Pomellato’s founding philosophy.
Initially, Pomellato was just a small jewelry workshop with only 15 people. However, Mr. Pino Rabolini overturned traditional design concepts and pioneered the introduction of the “prêt-à-porter” concept into jewelry design. This made jewelry not just a luxury item for socialites and wealthy ladies to show off, but also a fashion accessory for ordinary women to express their confidence and independence in daily life.
Soon, the Pomellato brand gained local fame with its unique creative concepts, pursuit of excellence in craftsmanship, and fashionable design style.
In 1979, the “Gourmette chain” element became popular in various fields. Pomellato, relying on its perfect clasp craftsmanship, used the “lost wax method” and “wire wrapping deformation” techniques that had existed for over 5000 years to create the exquisitely beautiful Gourmette series of jewelry.
The classic geometric chain links and avant-garde design interpreted Milan-style luxury. Later, the “chain link” and “chain type” elements, highly sought after by the fashion world, became the core symbols of the Pomellato brand.
In 1988, the adorable “Orsetto” bear series was launched. This series broke away from traditional jewelry design styles. The playfully tilted little head was lively and vivid, and its unique asymmetrical design instantly captured hearts.
As one ingenious series after another was introduced, the independence and confidence advocated by the Pomellato brand gained recognition and admiration from women worldwide. The Pomellato brand shone brightly in the accessories world and later rose to become Europe’s fifth-largest jeweler, becoming a pioneer and leader in the jewelry industry.
Embodying the Power and Spirit of Modern Women
Mr. Pino Rabolini once said, “I have always dedicated my carefully designed Pomellato pieces to women in general, rather than to any specific group of women.”
Over the years, the Pomellato brand has embodied the power and spirit of modern women, consistently creating avant-garde, modern, and colorful jewelry pieces from a female perspective and standpoint.
To break conventions and redefine feminine charm, Pomellato’s designers extensively use tri-color gold and various colored gemstones in their creations.
With vibrant color combinations, smooth flowing lines, and unique cutting techniques, Pomellato reinterprets elegance with a modern touch, becoming the distinctive jewelry that modern women use to express themselves.
In addition to its innovative material selection, Pomellato has insisted on pure handcrafting since its inception.
From the initial few to now hundreds of master goldsmiths, they select each gemstone with a professional and discerning eye, showcasing the vibrant colors of the gems with exceptional craftsmanship.
From melting to carving, from setting to polishing… through creative gemstone cutting and setting techniques, each uniquely creative piece of jewelry becomes even more precious.
Exquisite and Superior Craftsmanship
Whether it’s the colorful Nudo series or the luxurious and elegant Sabbia series, the exquisite craftsmanship presented in Pomellato’s works has always been widely admired.
Pomellato continuously pushes the boundaries of craftsmanship, pioneering techniques such as reverse gemstone cutting, the 57-facet cut, prong-less setting, and snow-set paving. These techniques naturally blend colored gemstones with metals, creating unique masterpieces.
The Colorful Nudo Series
In 2001, Pomellato’s designers chose topaz, peridot, aquamarine, and rhodolite as the main stones to create a colorful and highly recognizable work: the Nudo series.
In Italian, “Nudo” means “naked.” To achieve this effect, Pomellato uses a unique prong-less setting technique, fixing the gemstone on the base to perfectly showcase the gem’s inherent brilliance and charm.
This series can also be freely mixed and stacked to meet different wearer’s needs.
With its bold and innovative design, unique cutting technique, and ingenious setting craftsmanship, the Nudo series caused a sensation in the jewelry world upon its launch, becoming Pomellato’s signature work.
High Jewelry Series
La Gioia
In 2020, Pomellato launched its first high jewelry series, La Gioia, featuring 165 pieces.
This series continues Pomellato’s classic imprints, reinterpreting iconic elements such as the Nudo ring, Tango chain, and Ritratto mineral gemstones, capturing fleeting beauty in exquisite and elegant jewelry.
Each piece uses hundreds or thousands of carefully polished colored gemstones. They are either ever-changing or sumptuously dazzling, with each facet perfectly reflecting brilliant light, inspiring endless imagination.
Among them, this choker necklace is a sublimation of the Tango chain element.
The necklace consists of 29 gold chain links and took nearly 200 hours to complete.
To present colors as bright as a rainbow, the designers chose 11 types of colored gemstones including emeralds, spinels, and tourmalines. They were carefully arranged according to subtle color variations, offering an extraordinary visual feast.
The Nudo Collier Cascade necklace is inspired by the classic Nudo series. The entire necklace cascades down like a waterfall, with prong-less set colored gemstones displaying natural and lively beauty.
As an Italian national treasure jewelry brand, Pomellato was the first to introduce the concept of “prêt-à-porter” into jewelry design. It continuously breaks traditional boundaries, creating one avant-garde, modern, and colorful piece of jewelry after another through exquisite and superior craftsmanship.
