PAUL AMEY is an artist, designer, master goldsmith, and a member of the Gold and Silversmiths Guild of Australia. Born and raised in Melbourne, Australia, Paul comes from a family with a rich history in the jewelry trade. His grandfather was a watchmaker, and his father was a jeweler. Jewelry, it seems, runs in his blood!
With over 50 years of experience in jewelry design and creation, Paul has made a name for himself by producing beautiful, high-quality pieces entirely by hand. His commitment to craftsmanship and attention to detail have become hallmarks of his work.
Despite his long career, Paul remains passionate about designing and producing special pieces. “I get enjoyment from jewelry, and so should my clients,” he says. “I offer people choices that other jewelers can’t.”
Throughout his career, Paul has witnessed many design changes and influences come and go. However, he maintains that “the basic principles remain the same: excellent design, superb craftsmanship, and attention to detail.”
Like the ancient masters, Paul uses time-honored techniques to create modern masterpieces. “Each custom piece is purely handmade, with no computers and no mass production,” he explains. “My work is absolutely original art, whether in silver, gold, or platinum.”
Paul has a strong desire and talent for dramatic pieces, as evidenced by his early work creating the permanent Western Australian Gold Swan Award. Sotheby’s has included his work in their art category, and he has recently won two precious metal awards, further recognizing his handcrafted artistry.
