This magnificent emerald jewelry suite is part of the “Chopard x Julia Roberts” high jewelry collection launched by Chopard in 2024. All the main stones were cut from a single, enormous 6,225-carat Zambian emerald rough known as “Chopard Insofu.” The combination of emeralds with rubellites and turquoises creates a mesmerizing feast of colors.
The “Chopard Insofu” emerald rough, weighing an astounding 6,225 carats, was discovered in 2010 at the Kagem gemstone mine in Zambia. “Insofu” means “elephant” in the local Bemba language, referring to the gemstone’s shape and size resembling an elephant’s trunk.
To maximize the yield of high-quality cut emeralds, Chopard entrusted the cutting of this exceptional rough to master emerald cutters in India, with the final polishing carried out in Chopard’s Geneva workshop.
This high jewelry suite, a collaboration between Creative Director Caroline Scheufele and American actress Julia Roberts, presents three unique pieces, all crafted in rose gold.
The cocktail ring is designed as a vibrantly blooming flower, with a central oval-cut emerald representing the pistil, surrounded by alternating circles of rubellites, turquoises, and emeralds mimicking unfurling petals, creating a striking and captivating color contrast.
The necklace is composed of clusters of rubellites, emeralds, and cabochon turquoises, with pear-shaped emerald tassels cascading from the bottom, reminiscent of trailing vines and evoking the style of Indian jewelry.
The earrings feature rubellite clusters as studs, from which dangle pink sapphire pear-shaped frames set with scattered emeralds, rubellites, and turquoises, resembling the ornate decorations on a crystal chandelier.
