Jewelry, as an art form that has accompanied human development and encapsulates human culture, has evolved to produce more diverse styles as society progresses. Whether it’s the rise of gender-neutral fashion or the emergence of male beauty trends, these developments testify to our era of cultural diversity, converging ideologies, and rapid technological advancement.
It’s believed that minimalist, futuristic, and gender-neutral jewelry designs will become a significant trend. To stay ahead of the curve and elevate your style game, incorporating gender-neutral jewelry is a must!
Today, we’re introducing a designer who has made waves in the fashion accessory world with his distinctive jewelry. His dazzling creations have opened up new possibilities for contemporary jewelry art. Meet Tomasz Donocik from London!
An award-winning jewelry and accessory designer, Tomasz is a graduate of Central Saint Martins (CSM) and the Royal College of Art (RCA) in London, boasting impeccable academic credentials. Immersed in these rich cultural environments, he developed a lifelong passion for art, film, and literature, which continually inspires his journey in jewelry creation.
His enviable professional background led him to successful stints at several prestigious luxury companies after graduation, including LVMH, Garrard, and Stephen Webster. Here, he focused on designing and creating unique, modern bespoke pieces and high-end jewelry collections. His further enriched artistic accomplishments propelled Tomasz to become an unstoppable rising star in the modern jewelry world.
“If I think a design needs a certain material, I’ll use it, even if it’s not precious,” Tomasz asserts. Adhering to this belief, his works transcend the constraints of traditional jewelry making and the use of conventional materials. Instead, he incorporates various unconventional elements such as leather, magnets, zippers, and hematite. This alternative approach undoubtedly creates an unexpected beauty rarely seen in fine jewelry.
Tomasz Donocik has also gained considerable expertise in creating men’s jewelry. His custom work in the UK has attracted a loyal male clientele. Additionally, he has amassed a significant following in Japan for his men’s collections and is currently developing a range of men’s accessories. From leather and magnets to emerald brooches fit for royalty and crocodile cufflinks, these captivating and unique pieces owe their allure to the magical effects produced by combining traditional and non-traditional materials.
Beyond men’s jewelry, his work draws inspiration from a wide range of academic theories, including the Art Deco movement, 1980s fashion, retro-futurism, and the geometric paintings of abstract expressionist artist Frank Stella. With his unique creativity, he breathes life into bold contemporary jewelry pieces, marrying outstanding design with exquisite craftsmanship.
When it comes to jewelry that’s both cool and beautiful, Tomasz undoubtedly stands in a league of his own. He once launched the Electric Night jewelry series, inspired by the American science fiction film “Blade Runner.” With blue as the primary color, the pieces alternately set with sapphires, topaz, iolite, and tanzanite, form skyscrapers. The electric-like colors evoke the neon lights from the movie.

Tomasz effortlessly expresses geometric styles using baguette cuts. However, he’s no longer satisfied with flat point-line-plane designs and is evolving towards a more cubist approach. The trajectory created by baguette-cut diamonds showcases the extensibility of geometric space on a three-dimensional structure.
It’s astonishing how such simple lines can exude such captivating charm under Tomasz’s magical hands!
His style is diverse and unconventional, known for dark romantic men’s jewelry and ladies’ fine jewelry with a retro-futuristic flair. He is particularly adept at using baguette cuts, which may be related to his skill in geometric design. Regardless of the gemstones used, his pieces always appear strikingly elegant. Even his wedding jewelry is impossibly cool – just take a look.
Is it surprising that baguette cuts and rainbow jewelry are a perfect match? What could be more suitable than small rectangles to express gradual color transitions? Many designers have discovered this, as rectangles can be set without gaps, and step cuts help express subtle color changes. Thus, baguette cuts naturally possess the delicacy and precision required for rainbow jewelry.
“I don’t follow old rules for stone arrangement. I use stones to achieve the colors I want because the effect is more important,” says Tomasz. His works are always more distinctive and powerful than they appear. For instance, this ring combining diamonds, emeralds, and black spinel can be worn individually or together.
When combined, it resembles a winged ring with crossed fingers, exuding a punk vibe that screams rebellion. A cool leather jacket is an excellent choice to pair with such rings, instantly channeling a biker girl look!
Many of Tomasz’s collections blur the line between art and jewelry, renowned for cutting-edge design and precise craftsmanship. Each piece is created by combining modern and traditional techniques. He continually explores the bridge between tradition and modernity, bringing forward-thinking changes to high-end jewelry.
Tomasz once launched the Pleats jewelry series, inspired by the pleated elements in haute couture fashion of the 1920s. The designer cleverly uses custom-cut gemstones to create “pleated” textures full of geometric dimensionality, blending modern and vintage styles to express an elegant personal style.
The Pleats series uses gold to create three-dimensional geometric structures, resembling the pleated designs of haute couture garment trims. Custom-cut smoky quartz, citrine, and yellow topaz are arranged in gradient colors, further enhancing the visual 3D effect. Diamond settings along the edges outline a dazzling profile.
The new collection includes four pieces. The most eye-catching is an asymmetrical ring, with pleated structures surrounding one side of an oval green tourmaline center stone, resembling an elegant skirt. The brooch presents pleats of varying sizes, with white sapphires and round diamonds set on either side, highlighting the three-dimensional pleated design with sparkling fire. The earrings evoke thin wood shavings from pencil sharpening, full of visual tension.
Jewelry enthusiasts can discern the modernism of the 1980s in Tomasz’s designs, as well as traces of Art Deco style. However, he remains ultimately rebellious, with bold neon color combinations and highly dynamic designs that exude a strong sense of ultramodernism. It seems that beneath each piece lies a soul unwilling to be constrained!
The popularity of gender-neutral styles in fashion and jewelry circles is no coincidence; breaking gender boundaries has become a trend. Women can express their confident, independent, and free attitudes through these gender-neutral jewelry pieces.
For men, beautiful jewelry is no longer “women’s exclusive.” This must be the charm of gender-neutral jewelry! Are you ready to follow this quietly emerging trend of gender-neutral jewelry?
