Compared to diamonds, which are often unattainable and limited in choice (mainly due to their high cost), I have a stronger preference for colored gemstones. Besides being more cost-effective with a wide range of price points, the most important aspect is that the rich visual effects of colored gems are incomparable to diamonds.
If you’re tired of single-color combinations like red, green, and blue, I recommend checking out one of my favorite jewelry brands, Harry Winston (referred to as “HW” hereafter), and their “Winston Candy” collection. Just from the name, you can tell this collection is as dopamine-inducing as candy!
HW’s “Winston Candy” collection was first launched in 2018, inspired by the brand’s design sketches from the 1950s and 1960s. It emphasizes the passionate collision between colorful center stones and accent stones. Pieces in similar color schemes create depth through closely related colored gemstones, while contrasting color schemes select vastly different colored gemstones for a “bold” visual impact.
Today, I’ll use HW’s newly released pieces from this collection to showcase their mastery of “color play.”
The new pair of earrings features two lustrous cabochon pink sapphires as center stones, complemented by emerald-cut pink sapphires, pear-shaped yellow sapphires, and light green peridots. Similar earrings are also available in the following style.
Another new pair of earrings combines orange spessartite garnets and pink sapphires for a more subdued color combination.
Now, let’s look at the new pendant earrings.
The most eye-catching features are two 13-carat pear-shaped aquamarines, with pink and purplish-pink sapphires and spessartite garnets as accent stones above. The image below shows previous pieces from this collection.
Cocktail rings are the most common style in HW’s collection, with six new pieces this time.
This ring is described on the official website as having a reddish-pink sapphire center stone, but to me, it looks more purple. The accent stones are red tourmaline (which also looks purple), yellow sapphires, and spessartite garnets.
This ring features a 17.23-carat tsavorite as the center stone, accented with pink sapphires and peridots.
This ring has an 8.03-carat yellow sapphire as the center stone, cut in one of my favorite shapes, surrounded by tourmalines, peridots, emeralds, and tsavorites.
This ring showcases a 10-carat purple sapphire, surrounded by a first row of pink opals, a second row of pink sapphires, and a third row of tanzanites.
This ring features another 13.56-carat tsavorite as the center stone, with yellow sapphires and orange spessartite garnets.
A 15-carat large yellow sapphire steals the show, complemented by pink sapphires and light purple tanzanites.
Below are some previous pieces from HW’s collection, which I find more appealing than the new releases.
Beyond jewelry, I believe the most dazzling part of the “Winston Candy” collection is the watch series.
