A Star is Born: Louis Vuitton’s Revolutionary Monogram Star Diamond

Louis Vuitton has introduced a new diamond cut in its latest high jewelry collection, inspired by the company’s iconic Monogram Star pattern.

Diamonds are perhaps nature’s most perfect creation. Clear as water yet unbreakable, flawless diamonds have captivated men and women for centuries.

Then, in a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, someone found a way to make diamonds even more perfect. The Louis Vuitton Monogram Star diamond cut has achieved the impossible, making diamonds more brilliant, alluring, and vibrant.

The Louis Vuitton Monogram Star diamond

The Louis Vuitton Monogram Star diamond is a completely new cut with 53 facets, shaped like a four-pointed star with tapered ends, inspired by the unique floral pattern fabric cover developed by George-Louis Vuitton in 1896 to prevent counterfeiting.

Francesca Amfitheatrof, Louis Vuitton’s Artistic Director of Watches and Jewelry, explains: “This Louis Vuitton Monogram Star diamond cut is absolutely revolutionary. It’s the most unusual cut that anyone could dream of. It’s the first diamond that you know is from Louis Vuitton just by looking at it from afar.”

The Louis Vuitton Monogram Star combination star has 53 facets, shaped like a four-pointed star with tapered ends. The spaces between the four arms of the diamond open up new perspectives on how we view diamonds. By reducing the weight of the diamond and utilizing negative space, it unveils a new chapter in our romance with diamonds.

Louis Vuitton Monogram Star double ring

This Louis Vuitton Monogram Star double ring cleverly incorporates the brand’s “V” logo into the engagement ring, giving it a unique look that can be immediately identified as belonging to the French luxury company.

The Monogram Star is deeply rooted in the history of this French brand. In 1896, to protect his flat-topped trunks from counterfeiting, George-Louis Vuitton designed a unique floral pattern fabric for his luggage, which has become one of the most successful brand stories today. The same monogram flower is the starting point for the Monogram Star diamond, now elevated to precious jewelry.

Beautiful in every aspect, the Louis Vuitton Monogram Star diamond is fully traceable, with each piece having its own LV diamond certificate. In partnership with the Aura blockchain consortium, every step from mine to final jewelry is transparent and traceable, ensuring provenance and chain of custody.

Louis Vuitton Diamonds collection has a strong bridal element

The Louis Vuitton Diamonds collection has a strong bridal element, featuring nested engagement rings and bands, often showcasing the new Monogram Star diamond cut.

Amfitheatrof explains the transparency of the diamond supply chain: “We offer certificates for the LV Diamond collection that show the entire journey of the diamond from the mine to our stores. So we can really show the client the provenance of the diamond, and we’re very transparent about that.”

In the latest high jewelry collection, Louis Vuitton Monogram Star diamonds are presented alongside brilliant-cut diamonds, set in sturdy graphic shape rings, unisex bracelets, earrings, and pendants. References to the company’s other iconic fabric patterns, Damier or checkerboard, and the “V” shape are woven into this rose gold and platinum jewelry collection. The collection includes bridal jewelry, engagement rings, and bands with Monogram Star and brilliant-cut diamond series.

The V-shaped rings, Monogram Star diamond cut, and simple bangles make the Louis Vuitton Diamond collection easy to wear yet distinctive, very much in the LV style.
