East Meets West: Gemfields and MidnightOperaHouse Unveil ‘Floral Seasonscape’ – A Breathtaking Fusion of Chinese Art and Zambian Emeralds

British gemstone supplier Gemfields and Chinese jeweler MidnightOperaHouse have just launched their collaborative jewelry series – “Floral Seasonscape”. This collection features Zambian emeralds as the primary stones, blending Chinese artistic elements to create three jewelry pieces with a distinct Oriental flair.

The “Golden Orchids” earrings draw inspiration from the “Double-Outlined Orchid” painting by Qiu Ying, a renowned Ming Dynasty artist. These earrings are set with two oval-cut Zambian emeralds and feature elongated, three-dimensional teardrop-shaped natural black onyx pendants.

The standout element is the polished yellow gold orchid leaves adorning the surface, accentuated by round emeralds that create a magnificent green radiance. In traditional Chinese culture, the orchid is revered as one of the “Four Gentlemen,” symbolizing nobility, elegance, and resilience.

The “Ingenious Linglong Narcissus” white gold necklace is inspired by the Chinese art of bonsai. The long necklace is strung with lustrous natural pearls, centering on a narcissus bonsai arrangement. The narcissus flowers are crafted from white mother-of-pearl and diamonds, while the black onyx flowerpot is intricately carved with petal patterns.

Diamond lines add an art deco touch, complemented by five round emeralds that echo the three pear-shaped emerald drops at the bottom. The narcissus element can be detached and worn as a brooch.

The “Window Harbors Autumn Blooms” earrings draw inspiration from traditional Chinese window design aesthetics. These earrings feature oval-shaped black onyx as a backdrop, with gold sand and hand-carved white mother-of-pearl meticulously depicting intricate floral scenes.

Emeralds are set to evoke natural vitality. This piece evokes the image of autumn flowers glimpsed through a window on a quiet night, exuding a serene and Zen-like Oriental ambiance.
